The Trebbiano Grape

The Trebbiano grape yields huge quantities of fruit - the picture speaks for itself.  But with huge yields comes a somewhat simple characteristic.  Wines are generally quite simple in character, light and inoffensive.

Trebbiano is also known as Ugni Blanc in France, where it is known from producing light, fresh wines, as well as in the production of Cognac, Armagnac and even industrial alcohol.

Trebbiano s the traditional grape used to produce Balsamic vinegar (the colour of Balsamic vinegar stems from the long maturation period in oak barrels).

Trebbiano accounts for up to a third of Italy's white wine production.  Often, it is blended with Malvasia to accentuate a little more character.
