General Terms and Conditions

In a nutshell:

  • You have to be over 18.
  • You have to pay before we process your order.
  • You have to register before you order (see our Privacy Policy).

Delivery Policy

In a nutshell:

  • Free delivery on orders of 12 bottles or more (UK mainland).
  • Orders will be dispatched within 2-3 working days.
  • A charge of £7.99 will be incurred on orders less than 12 bottles.
  • Mainland European deliveries are quoted on an individual basis.  

Cancellation, Returns & Refunds Policies

In a nutshell:

  • If it’s broken or out of condition on delivery, we’ll take responsibility.
  • You can return your order within 7 days – as long as you haven’t drunk it!
  • We can’t refund you if you simply don’t like it.

Our Policy

  • We cannot sell wine to anyone who is under the age of 18.  By placing an order with Hannibal Brown, you are confirming that you are at least 18 years old.
  • If our drivers are in any doubt about the age of the recipient on delivery, they will request a form of ID.  If the recipient is unable to produce appropriate ID, our drivers will be unable to leave the wine.
  • All orders will be delivered within 2-3 working days; if this is not possible we will contact you.
  • You will be asked to provide delivery instructions when you place your order.  This will be compulsory because we want you to get your order the first time we try to deliver.
  • We offer free delivery on orders of 12 bottles or more.
  • For orders less than 12 bottles, there will be a standard delivery charge of £7.99 for most areas on the UK mainland.
  • For deliveries to remote areas and those not on the mainland, we will try to keep our charges to a minimum. Please contact us, as we would like to be able to help where possible.
  • If we have to cancel your order for any reason, we will explain why and refund any money you have paid for that order.
  • If we are unable to completely fulfill your order, we will contact you to inform you of our suggested substitute items of the same value or more.  You will have the choice of accepting the substitute, waiting for new stock or cancelling the order. 
  • If we are unable to get confirmation from you of your choice, and your delivery is due, we will issue the substitute item – unless there are more than three substitutions necessary, in which case we will await your confirmation.
  • If your order goes missing, or is damaged, before it is delivered, we will send you a replacement order as soon as possible.
  • If we are unable to send replacement goods within 7 days we will offer you the option of a refund or give you a revised delivery date.
  • NB: delivery takes place when your order is left at your delivery address or in accordance with the instructions you issue on order.
  • We shall not be liable for any delay in delivering your wine if that delay or failure is caused by circumstances beyond our control such as third party out-sourced service provider, war, riot, civil commotion, malicious damage, compliance with any law or governmental order, rule, regulation or direction, fire, flood, storm or Act of God, failure of ISP or telecommunications provider in connection with the performance of this Agreement.
  • Any promotions, discounts or vouchers are single use only and not to be used in conjunction with any other promotion, discount or voucher unless otherwise stated.  
  • We take our customer’s privacy very seriously, we will only pass your details to 3rd parties if it is necessary to fulfill your order i.e. delivery companies, warehouses etc.

Refund Policy

  • You may return your order for any reason, up to 7 working days after placing it, and as long as all bottles are undamaged, unopened and returned to us at: Hannibal Brown, 1a, Station Approach, Worcester Park, Surrey, KT4 7NB.  We will give you a full refund, less any delivery costs, within 30 days of receipt of your products.  You must contact us by email, phone or post to confirm that you will be returning the items.  
  • If any of your wine is spoiled/out of condition then you must inform us as soon as possible.  You may choose either to return the whole case or just the affected bottles for a refund.  If you choose to return the remainder of the case contents (the same wine), it must arrive unopened and undamaged and we will process the refund.  The return must be within 60 days of the delivery of your order.
  • If a wine has been stored inappropriately, we may not be able to offer a refund.


 Voucher Codes 

  • From time to time, Hannibal Brown may offer 'vouchers'.
  • These can be redeemed when placing an order online.
  • They may carry expiry dates on them, so please be sure to use them during their given lifetime.
  • Terms of usage will always accompany the voucher. 
  • In order to spend a voucher, you will need to have registered with us beforehand. 
  • Our vouchers may be product specific or may be available to spend against our entire range.  They may offer a percentage discount or a monetary discount -  it really depends on the offer.
  • Monetary discount vouchers can only be redeemed once.  There are no cash alternatives and no 'change' is offered if you underspend on the amount.
  • All vouchers are one per customer at all times.  If we suspect multiple accounts have been set up, then we reserve the right to close these at any time.



  • We take our customer’s privacy very seriously, we will only pass your details to third parties if it is necessary to fulfill your order i.e. delivery companies, warehouses etc.
  • Nothing in these Terms and Conditions reduces any of your statutory rights.  Further information about your rights is available from your Local Authority Trading Standards Department or Citizen's Advice Bureau.

The Wine Route

  • The Wine Route is the chosen name for the Hannibal Brown subscription scheme.  
  • All general Terms and Conditions of trading as set out in these pages apply.  Additional conditions of subscription are as follows :
  • Hannibal Brown reserves the right to adjust the contents of the case to the same value.
  • Delivery schedules may be subject to adjustment by up to 5 days.
  • Introductory Champagne offer applies on both 12 packs and 6 packs.
  • Only one introductory case per household.
  • Members can only hold one subscription at any one time.
  • No other discount voucher can be used in conjunction Wine Route subscriptions.
  • Your ongoing payment dates will be issued via email after registration.
  • Cancellation must be more than two working days before your next payment date.
  • If you choose to cancel within two days of your next payment date, you will not be refunded for that transaction.  We will supply that transaction and your cancellation will take affect as of the following transaction.
  • You will be notified of your delivery date upon registration.  


Caption Competition Rules

From time to time, Hannibal Brown runs caption competitions.  The following terms will apply :

1. Eligibility: The competition is only open to residents of the UK. 

2. All entrants must be aged 18 or over

3. No purchase is necessary to enter the competition. 

4. The competition timeframes are specified and final.

5. There is no limit to the number of entries by one single person.

6. Captions will be immediately rejected if they are considered to hold inappropriate information such as :

  • defamatory, malicious, indecent or other inappropriate content
  • disparage or any other person or party affiliated with the competition.

7. The entrant considered to have submitted the most amusing and innovative caption will be judged to be the winner and receive a Golden Ticket voucher to a given value.  This will be redeemable via a Voucher Code and can be used in conjunction with the entrant’s future wine purchases from

8. There will be no cash alternatives issued.

9. Winners of the caption competitions will be notified within 2 days of the closing date via email.

10. In the event that a winner is unreachable or fails to claim the prize in the time required, the winner shall forfeit their prize and the prize may be awarded to the next placed entrant.

11. No responsibility is accepted for entries lost, damaged or delayed as a result of any network, computer hardware or software failure of any kind.

12. By entering our competitions, the participant agrees to be bound by our  terms and conditions.

13. reserves the right at its absolute discretion to disqualify entries which it considers do not comply with our terms and conditions or any participant who it reasonably believes has interfered with the fair running of our Competitions.

14. The decision of is final and no correspondence will be entered into.

15. Details of winning entrants will be available for a maximum of 30 days after the completion of each competition.  All requests for details should be made in writing to Hannibal Brown Wine Services Ltd.
