Bill & Susan Sokol Blosser planted their first vines in 1971. At that time, wine was pretty non-existent in Oregon, yet today, Willamette Valley is considered the epicentre of Oregon Pinot Noir.
The Sokol Blossers have always been farmed organically. Not only that, they scrutinise their energy efficiencies and became the first winery to achieve certification from the US’s Energy & Environmental Design body, LEED.
This Syrah-based blend is complex, velvety, juicy and nothing short of exquisite. Montepulciano, Sangiovese and 9 white grapes make up the blend so expect some fascinating differences in this wine. The Evolution Red is elegant and distinguished, compared to its more intense white partner. Light, berry fruit, reminiscent of a delicate Burgundy. Nothing short of classy, unusual and fabulous and it starts with the quirky label. Even the cork reads ‘Your evolution begins here’… you won’t be disappointed.
Evolution wines are all about experimenting with unusual grape varietals and blends. They are non-vintage with each edition liable to change blend, according to the quality of grapes.
