This wine features in our LockdownLIVE! event - Thursday 16th July 2020

Wonderfully aromatic with plenty of primary red fruit aromas, with notes of mocha, coffee, vanilla and nutty oak flavours. Round and balanced, with ripe tannins and a velvety texture that leads to a long finish.   The wine was barrel aged for 12 months and underwent considerable bottle ageing before release.

Interesting fact: The Monemvasia winery was founded in the late '90s with one clear objective: to revive the production of Malvasia.  The Frankish name for Monemvasia is Malvasia.  The tiny town of Monemvasia is situated on an island, linked to the Peloponnese by a causeway.

Dafnes, Heraklion, Crete

The Vidiano grape is indigenous to Greece and is grown in the Dafnes sub-region of Heraklion.  The area is pretty mountainous and the vines are at a cool 500m above sea level.   The vines are incredibly low yielding and enjoy cool breezes from the Aegean Sea - they really do thrive in this region.

Delicate aromatic characters of ripe pear, stone fruits and melon, lead to a refreshing acidity which balances the richness on the palate. Impressively aromatic finish, this is the quintessential introduction to the Vidiano grape.
