Taste

A wonderful addition to our range, this Gran Reserva Syrah joins the already hugely popular Reserva Carmenere .  And if you love little brother Carmenere, you're going to be blown away by the Syrah!

Awarded Chilean Winery of the Year by the International Wine & Spirit Competition in both 2013 and 2014.

Grapes are grown in the coolest part of Casablanca with full sun exposure.  Thus ripening is long and even.  16 days maceration on skins before and after fermentation, the winemaker wants maximum extraction and character.  The wine undergoes 100% French barrel aged (1st and 2nd year barrels), then bottled and rested for a further few months before release.   The aromas are instant deep blackcurrant that nobody fails to recognise.  The prevailing flavours are of black pepper, tobacco, linseed and sweet violet.  The structured tannins and vibrant acidity mean that this wine will develop for many years.   Best decanted.

The producer's philosophy is quality not quantity - the best employees, who love their job, the purest fruit and the healthiest vines, a winning combo.

Last tasted :  May 2018 at the Hay Festival

Enjoy

Enjoy with full blown meat dishes - griddled or BBQ'd is a must.  Hard cheeses or a ripe goat are ideal.
